Newly appointed customer experience host, David Avery, said the kiosk will be equipped with personal tech devices with tracking software, which can provide up-to-the-minute bus information, as well as accessing the First website. Real time updates on bus services will be particularly useful during busy summer traffic.

Richard Gagg, operations manager for First Bus Wessex, said: "It’s wonderful to see so many visitors and local people out and about again in Dorset.

"Our kiosk is there to help people get the most out of their visit here and we're really pleased to be able to help."

Mr Avery, who lives in Weymouth, has extensive bus industry and customer service experience. He brings a wealth of knowledge to the role.

He said: "I’m so excited to be part of the new First Bus Wessex team.

"I'm looking forward to helping visitors from all over the world discover the best way to get around and explore the region’s wonderful scenery and attractions."

The kiosk’s opening coincides with First Bus Wessex’s new summer timetable, which starts from this Sunday (May 29).

It sees the seasonal return of one of Britain’s most scenic services, the Jurassic Coaster open topper X52 bus.

The service is renowned for its route offering spectacular views of Chesil Beach.

The Jurassic Coaster X52 and the X54 and Portland Coaster 501 will run daily and with increased frequency during the summer, along with the 503 and the 502. The Jurassic Coaster X53/X51 combined hourly service will continue and other First Wessex services which will remain unchanged.

In other good news, the X52, as well as the X53 and the 502, will stop at new bus stops right outside a brand-new Weymouth station forecourt. Service 1 and the 501 will stop at a new bus stop opposite the station on King Street. The new stops will make it much easier for customers to connect with rail services.
