WILDLIFE charity People’s Trust for Endangered Species (PTES) is calling for people across Dorset who spot a stag beetle (or larvae) to record their sightings online, as part of their annual Great Stag Hunt survey.
The survey runs from now until July, and this year, PTES is particularly interested to receive sightings of stag beetles (Britain’s largest land beetle) seen in woodlands, as well as other known habitats like gardens, allotments, parks etc.
Last year over 16,000 stag beetle sightings were recorded, and Dorset was the sixth highest county with over 1,000 sightings.
To take part, simply record any stag beetles (male, female, or larvae) that you see online at www.stagbeetles.ptes.org
