TWO glass artists from Dorset are to feature at the RHS Chelsea Flower Show this week.
Ian Godfrey and Gail Boothman will have their garden glass sculptures on display until May 28 to celebrate the ‘international year of glass’.
The artists were invited by stand curator Gabrielle Argent to provide three glass sculptures as part of the glass celebration. They will be joined by glass artists from across the United Kingdom who are all showcasing their garden sculptures.

Ian and Gail, known as Galiani Glass Art, have established themselves along the Purbeck coast and recently received national press coverage highlighting their work.
Ian said: “As artists we have only been producing our garden sculptures in the last few years so it is fantastic to be invited to join other artists from across the UK and to represent Dorset at such an iconic and world renowned garden show. We design and create our sculptures so they can demonstrate all the amazing qualities that glass has in beautiful colour, illumination and reflection – all of which create a wonderful statement within the garden.”
The pair have been producing their own glass art for over 13 years during which time they’ve created a wide range of individual pieces as well as larger commissions for clients and collectors. The garden sculptures on display range in size with the largest being two metres high.

The artists are currently taking part in Dorset Art Weeks which runs until May 29 and will also participate in Purbeck Art Weeks from May 28 until June 12 as well as Dorset Arts Festival later in the year.
Dorset Art Weeks is now in its 30th year and is combining in-person displays with online events as in a hybrid approach post-pandemic. Events run across Dorset with over 200 artists and art groups involved throughout the county.
RHS Chelsea Flower shows runs until Saturday, May 29 with Galiani Glass Art on display up until the 28th. The sculptures, along with wider collection of glass art, will be available to view between 8am and 8pm at Stand 542.
