NINE homes could be built on an old quarry site at Bottom Road, Stourpaine.
Dorset Council has been asked to grant planning permission to Creative Contracts Ltd for the overgrown site, which is to the north side of the road, opposite a play area.
A planning application says the development would provide parking for 21 cars with four 4-bed homes, two 3-bed and three 2-bed – four of the smaller properties would be designated for social, affordable or intermediate rent.
The new properties are proposed as a mix of detached and semi-detached with a mix of external finishes including brick and render, all brick and some with feature quoined corners and differing styled entrance doors, porches and canopies.

The site, first listed as a quarry in 1841, is outside the village conservation area, but within 60 metres of it at the nearest point. It has been used for many years for illegal fly-tipping and once had a mobile home on the site.
A planning agent says that the Village Plan proposes that a development of up to nine home would be welcomed with a need for 17 new affordable homes in the village.

The application includes details of a new access from Bottom Road with a T shaped internal road into the site. Existing trees will be used to help screen some of the homes from the road.
Further details of the application, Dorset Council reference 2022/02944, can be seen on the council website with public comments open until June 19th.
