A VACANCY for a town councillor has arisen in an area of Weymouth with a by-election expected to take place in August.

The vacancy follows an announcement by Becky Blake that she is standing down from the role as Wyke Regis councillor for health reasons.

A total of 10 people who are registered in the ward where the vacancy has arisen need to request an election is held within 14 days or no later than Monday, May 30.

Cllr Colin Huckle, mayor of Weymouth, said: "My thanks go to Becky for the work she has done in representing people in Wyke Regis.

"Now we need to find a new councillor to help make a difference and become a member of Weymouth Town Council.

"It can be a very rewarding role."
