A motorcyclist involved in a serious crash on the coast road suffered 'potential life changing injuries', police have said.
As reported, the B3157 was closed on Saturday afternoon following a collision.
Emergency services attended and the Dorset and Somerset Air Ambulance was seen to land in a field.
Dorset Police were contacted about the incident at the weekend and have now released a statement.
A spokesman said: "We were called at 2.22pm on Saturday 7 May 2022 to reports of a serious injury collision on the B3157 Coast Road near to Burton Bradstock. The road was closed at the Crown roundabout, Bridport and at Swyre.
"It was a single vehicle collision involving a green Kawasaki motorcycle. The rider, a man aged in his 30s, was taken to Southampton General Hospital with potentially life-changing injuries."
A spokesperson for bus operator First Wessex said at the time: “Due to the road traffic collision our X53 services are currently unable to serve Burton Bradstock, Swyre and Abbotsbury. We are sorry for any inconvenience.”
Quentin Parsons, who was on a bus which got caught in the traffic, said: “The crash happened before we arrived about 3pm.
“We understood a motorcycle was involved in a collision and ended up in the ditch on the sea side of the road. The rider was taken away after 30 minutes by the air ambulance.
“Our bus had to turn around and go back. The police and ambulance service were also in attendance.”
