AN EVENT is to be held examining the history of a hamlet in Dorset.
Members of the public are being invited to the United Church Hall, East Street, in Bridport for a history event about Mapperton, near Beaminster.
The event is called 'Mapperton: the story of a Dorset Parish Bridport History Society' and is being held from 2pm onwards on Thursday, May 12.
The event will see participants delve into the history of the hamlet, including Mapperton House.
Mapperton is noted for its manor house, with both house and gardens open to the public during the summer months. The house is Grade I-listed, as is the attached All Saints' Church which dates from the 12th century
To attend it will cost £3 for all other visitors.
