DORSET fire crews were rushed to a shed fire in Beaminster yesterday afternoon.
The blaze is believed to have started accidentally after embers from burning garden waste set alight to the shed on Friday, March 25, at around 3.11pm.
A spokesperson for Bridport Fire Station said: “One of Bridport's appliances along with an appliance from Devon and Somerset Fire and Rescue Service were mobilised to a shed fire in Beaminster.
“The fire was mostly out on arrival thanks to the quick thinking of the property owner who used a garden hose to extinguish the flames.
“Crews dampened down and checked for hotspots using a thermal imaging camera. The fire was caused accidentally after embers from burning garden waste set alight to the shed.”
The fire service was advised people not to burn garden waste ‘unless absolutely necessary’ with the current warm weather as fires can get out of control easily and spread very fast.
