A NEW community beach clean initiative will start next week – allowing community groups to litter pick free of charge and without the worry of equipment and insurance.
Hosted by the Weymouth and Portland Marine Litter Project, the Community Beach Clean Scheme is aimed at the many local people who care about the coast but don’t have the equipment, insurance that organised groups require or means to get rid of the waste.
A spokesperson for the Weymouth and Portland Marine Litter Project said: “Pop along say hello and find out more about the scheme, what we do and even have a go at litter picking on the beach.”
The scheme will launch with a beach clean on Thursday March 31 12-1pm on Weymouth Beach by the donkey ride area.
