Hi readers, it’s Emily and William here this week talking about the storms we had, Storm Eunice and Storm Franklin.
Luckily we didn’t get blown away but what a day it was! I Emily, stayed in all day and didn’t even go to work. When Mum went outside as both fences had come down, she could hardly stand up so didn’t think it was safe or sensible to drive me to work.
So I watched TV and made the evening meal together with my housemates. Debbie and Jo made cheesecakes and we had a laugh. It did feel a bit weird as I should have been at work but it was good having a nice time together.
The day after, on Saturday, I went shopping and almost blew myself to Tesco, it was still so windy. I had to hold on to someone on the way there!
I, William, always have Fridays off so went to town for a paper and it didn’t feel too bad. The Borough Gardens were shut because it wasn’t safe to go there in the storms. I came home, did some housework and watched telly. It was hard to sleep and I had to shut the window as the wind was howling and whistling so much.
It wasn’t great seeing fences and trees down. We heard about someone who had a tree fall onto their roof, but luckily it didn’t go through. Laura, who helps us edit this column, has a friend who runs a zoo and a tree fell down on the lion enclosure. Luckily they didn’t escape, though have had to move to another zoo while it’s fixed.
Let’s hope that’s the storms over for this year and that we get some warmer, less windy and sunnier weather soon.
