Gritting lorries head out in Dorset

Dorset Council highways teams are out this evening amid predictions that 'cold spots' could affect local roads during the early hours of tomorrow morning.

They will be gritting across four routes in the county - including on the outskirts of Weymouth, Chickerell; Bridport, Marshwood Vale and Gillingham.

Gritting routes in Dorset tonight:

Coast Road route

• head towards A35/B3162 junction at Bridport and turn right onto B3162, onto Tannery Road and up to Hope Terrace and West Street car parks

• return to West Street, gritting South Street to Crown Roundabout and down to West Bay, up to St Johns Church

• return to Crown Roundabout, down Burton Road to Burton Bradstock, Abbotsbury, Portesham and to Chickerell staying on the B3157, then left at Chickerell Link Road and right into Link Park

• return to Chickerell Road to grit Glennie Way and East Street

• return to Chickerell Road to grit past Budmouth School and into Granby Trading Estate to grit Hampshire Road and to Wessex Roundabout and down to the substation

• return to grit down Chickerell Link Road

• Lanehouse Rocks Road, onto Portland Road up to Wyke Roundabout between Cross Road and Portland Road junction

Bridport north route:

• through North Allington and onto Hospital Lane, up to Bridport Community Hospital

• return to North Allington to grit up B3162 to South Bowood, through Netherbury and A3066 through Beaminster to Mountjoy School

• return onto A3066 to grit to Whetley Cross, along B3164 to Broadwindsor and B3162 junction (one-way loop), right onto B3164, left onto B3163 to Beaminster Roundabout and continue on B3163, A356, A3066 to Misterton through Mosterton back to Whetley Cross

• around Gore Cross Roundabout down to A3066 and around Colfox roundabout going back to A3066

• from Colfox junction to A35 roundabout along East Street

Gillingham loops route:

• from Gibbs Marsh depot, grit along Landshire Lane, Camp Road to A30 Bow Bridge, to and around Ivy Cross Roundabout then along A350 Grosvenor Road towards Warminster to Dorset county boundary

• return to Ivy Cross Roundabout to grit along Longmead Industrial Estate and Wincombe Lane past school

• return to Ivy Cross Roundabout to grit B3081 to Motcombe Turnpike, continue on B3081 into Gillingham, along Le Neubourg Way, then Wyke Road towards West Bourton to old A303

• right through Bourton and Zeals to T-junction

• return along B3092 to Gillingham

• Newbury, School Lane and School Road

• return to Newbury roundabout to grit over railway bridge, New Road and along B3092 to A30 at East Stour

Marshwood Vale route:

• from Netherbury junction (just before Filford Lane) in South Bowood, along B3162 to Broadwindsor, onto B3163, onto B3164, onto West Street, along to B3165 to Oathill county boundary

• return to B3162 and grit to Winsham county boundary

• return to Horn Ash to grit B3162 through Drimpton to Broadwindsor

• return to B3165 to grit Scotts Lane to A35

• travel to county boundary then grit along Uplyme Road, Silver Street and Hill Road up to fire station

• return to Silver Street to grit A3052 and Cobb Road down to bus loop

• return to A3052 to grit Sidmouth Road to county boundary

• grit Clappentail Lane to Silver Street and Pound Road to A3052

• return to Silver Street junction to grit along A3052 to A35 roundabout, Axminster Road through Charmouth and Bridge Road to fire station
