DORCHESTER Town manager Glenn Howes says the Magpies must put their weekend off to good use as their fight against relegation intensifies.
Dorchester lost 3-1 at home to then bottom club Merthyr Town last time out and have won just four of 21 games in Howes’ tenure across all competitions.
The Magpies next tackle Kings Langley on Saturday, March 19 with Dorchester one point and one place behind Lango, who occupy the final safe position.
While the break in Pitching In Southern League Premier South action is not ideal for the Magpies, Howes is looking to use the extra time wisely.
Speaking to Dorchester’s media team, he said: “In some ways it raised the importance of (the Merthyr) fixture.

“You haven’t got that back-to-back going Tuesday: ‘Right, we can grab some points’.
“We felt that when we had the fixture postponed against Farnborough. That deflated us a little because we wanted to play and results didn’t go our way that week.
“That’s the danger of it, but that’s almost spurred us on even more.
“That has to happen this (weekend). It gives a bit more time to have preparation to get things right. We should be firing and ready to go for that next fixture.
“We can’t do anything about it, we just have to utilise the time we have.”
