New Look is planning a return to Weymouth town centre.
It has been confirmed that the fashion chain which closed its New Bond Street just a matter of weeks ago, is hoping to move into a new Weymouth branch.
The retailer has had a presence in the town for more than half a century and now plans to return.
As reported, New Look - which has its headquarters at Weymouth's Mercery Road - was ejected from its New Bond Street premises last month by the landlord, who ended the lease early.
New Look’s landlords across the country were given more scope to end its leases when the chain sought a company voluntary arrangement (CVA) to reduce its debts in 2020.
The brand is now proposing to take over the former Monsoon shop at number 6 New Bond Street - just around the corner from its former premises.
Both stores are owned by the same landlord - who owns the whole of New Bond Street shopping centre - and who has given New Look permission to submit a planning request to Dorset Council for new shop signage above the old Monsoon shop.
New Look's agents have asked for permission to erect an illuminated sign featuring black text with white inset faces onto a white backing panel.
It comes after Boots unveiled plans to move into the former New Look branch.
The proposal can be viewed on Dorset Council's website and public comments can be made until April 8. The reference number is P/ADV/2022/01462.
