WITH the end of the season approaching, Dorchester Rugby club have announced details of the black-tie anniversary ball to celebrate their 150th, sesquicentennial, anniversary.
Saturday, May 28 will see the spectacular event take place at Surcouf Park for 200 guests in a marquee, with new commercial partner, local company Care South, as event sponsor.
Starting with a welcome drink the event will have a sit down three-course meal, followed by dancing to a well-known local band along with an auction and raffle. The event is raising money for much needed infrastructure repairs and improvements at the clubhouse and grounds.
Surcouf Park is used by many groups from rock choirs to the NHS and running clubs, through to private functions and of course its own senior and junior teams.

Keen to keep the venue the best locally for community groups to meet in, with secure parking and space for larger numbers, being on the site for 30 years means the elements have taken their toll.
With all its senior sides progressing well, a large and very successful junior section, along with a number of recent junior players now playing at Premiership sides, URC Welsh sides and the Allianz 15s women’s league, as well as a number of those players in age group and senior international squads, the club continues to provide a great start to many rugby careers.
Tickets can be booked through the club. For more details, see the club website and Facebook page.
