West Bay Holiday Park has been given permission to install a new flat roof entrance on a conservatory to the front of the site and to add a pergola over the external dining area.
The consent also includes adding upvc and timber cladding to the exterior of main building and conservatory.
Owners, Parkdean Resorts, say the pergola will be fitted with a polycarbonate roof cover, looped festoon lighting and heaters with the cladding to match the existing on the main building. It claims it will tidy the area which is currently marked by a range of umbrellas and bench seating.
The company had also planned to add a catering van to the site to increase the choice for customers wanting to eat outside, or to take food back to their holiday accommodation on the site, but removed it from the application before it was decided by Dorset Council.
Parkdean say the changes are designed in a way which aims to be of minimal impact to the main building and the surrounding areas.
Bridport Town Council raised no objection although commented that it would expect any new signs to comply with the Bridport Neighbourhood Plan.
Dorset Council planning officers said the proposals would not detract from the area and would sit against the backdrop of the building.
