A DAD will be putting himself through a series of unique challenges in a bid to raise money and awareness for a local children’s charity.
Anders Naylor, of Portland, will be taking on 15 challenges to raise money for the Dorset Children’s Foundation, a charity supporting local disabled children and their families.
Some of the challenges undertaken will include having his head shaved, having 100 eggs thrown at him and sitting in an ice cold bath.
With the help of his friend, William Boyles, Anders will record each challenge and post it on his Facebook page, in the hopes of reaching his target of raising £1,500.
Anders has two children of his own struggling with a disability, which inspired him to take the plunge and commit to doing some of the eye-watering dares to raise awareness for local services and support for disabled children like his own.
The 27-year-old is to start the challenges this Monday, February 7, with a leg and armpit wax at The Hair & Beauty Studio on Portland.
To encourage people to donate, William said that if they can hit their fundraising target, three more bonus challenges will be added to the list.
“We both have children in our family who are disabled and we felt that this was a good way to raise money for a good cause," said William.
“There are not many initiatives here to support families with disabled children, and most are based in Bournemouth, so we hope that through this we can raise some awareness.
“We’ve seen people take on similar challenges on the internet but there’s not much reason behind them and they’re usually for themselves, but we thought ‘why don’t we do something that would raise money for charity’.
“He [Anders] made a Facebook post asking people for ideas for challenges he could do to raise money, and let them pick what it was he would be doing.
“We hope the people who are watching Anders for entertainment will donate because we’re really doing it for the children.”
When asked what challenge Anders was least looking forward to doing, William said he was particularly worried about getting his bellybutton pierced and doing the surströmming challenge – a viral challenge involving an infamous Swedish delicacy made of fermented fish.
