A CHARITY which supports seriously ill children in Dorset has officially launched a packed 2022 programme of fundraising events - after a devastating past two years that has seen a number of activities cancelled and finances hit hard.
Julia’s House – which has continued providing care and support to families throughout the pandemic – said it 'felt good' to be able to plan big fundraising challenges again.
Hannah Miller, events manager at Julia’s House, said: “Like many charities, we were forced to cancel so many of our events over the last two years which has had a significant impact on our fundraising income but has also been disappointing for lots of people who we know love to come out and support us in this way.
“We have been able to run some of our events on a smaller scale, but it feels so good to be planning our big challenges again and give everyone a chance to do something they’ve never done before, set some exciting personal goals and have fun together knowing they’re helping those most in need in our local community too.”
Events include:
The Big Jump
April 23. The popular Julia’s House sky dive will take place at the Army Parachute Association near Salisbury. Places are limited so sign up quickly.
Hike the Jurassic Coast
June 26. Trek along the Dorset coastline whilst “mastering cliff top climbs and enjoying breath-taking views”. You can celebrate your achievement with a prosecco and hog roast at the finish line at Harry Warren House that overlooks Old Harry Rocks. Hike can be completed in one day and has a 26- and 13-mile route.
Hike the Wiltshire Countryside
July 17. Take part in the Great Wiltshire Walk. Enjoy the scenery and landmarks such as Avebury’s World Heritage Stone Circle. You’ll have a glass of fizz waiting for you at the finish line at the King’s Arms, All Cannings. Hike can be completed in one day and has a 26- and 13-mile route.
Run Bournemouth
October 8-9. You can sign up for free for this run and can choose from a half-marathon, 10k or 5k. There will also be junior races for children aged three to 12.
