THE inquest into a cyclist who died on Christmas Eve following a crash on the Weymouth Way has now opened.
Wayne McBride, aged 58, was involved in a collision on December 24 and sadly sustained very serious injuries as he was pronounced dead at the scene.
Police officers launched an investigation into the cause of the crash and appealed for any witnesses or motorists with dashcam footage to contact the force.
Formal identification took place and confirmed the body was that of Wayne McBride from Weymouth.

An initial inquest opened at the Coroner’s Court in Bournemouth Town Hall on Wednesday, January 5.
The inquest opening recorded Mr McBride’s death as one polytrauma - which is two or more severe injuries in at least two areas of the body.
Confirmation was also given of McBride's death being on the A354 Weymouth Way on Christmas Eve.
The inquest was then adjourned until a later date.
Dorset Police confirmed that investigations are still taking place following the collision on December 24.
A spokeswoman for the force said: “There is no update in relation to this collision and the investigation is ongoing.”
