AN ICONIC Weymouth event is set to return in-person for the first time in three years, much to the delight of organisers.
Fayre in the Square is back for 2022 having been cancelled last year and held online in 2020, but now it returns with a new date.
The popular Weymouth event is set to be held on Saturday May 28 and Sunday May 29 in Hope Square, with plenty of stalls and musicians already on board.
Volunteers from Weymouth Rotary, led by David Langridge, come together to ensure the days run smoothly and they are happy to be back.
Mr Langridge said: “We already have a number of great local musicians pencilled in and are looking to welcome back many stallholders who have taken part in previous years.
“After the challenges of the last 20 months, it will be fantastic to bring back this Weymouth institution in its proper form.”
This year Fayre in the Square will take place at the beginning of the school half-term week building up to the Queen’s Platinum Jubilee celebrations on the following weekend.

A host of live music will be on offer catering for a whole variety of tastes alongside food and drinks stalls all in a bid to raise money for charity.
Rick Simmonds of Weymouth Rotary said: “It is a staple of the summer calendar in Weymouth.
“We have already been in touch with lots of bands and stalls which is lovely to get people back involved.
“I’m not surprised the support has been so immense because Weymouth is a musical town and people have backed it.
“Loads of bands and stalls have already been confirmed but we will share that information at a later date.”
Mr Simmonds urged residents to keep their eyes peeled and keep an eye on their Facebook page to ensure they keep up to date with all the latest developments with Fayre in the Square.
Fayre in the Square in previous years has always been a popular event known to draw residents and tourists alike to enjoy some quality music amongst good food and drink, so organisers expect people to flock back to the event in their numbers once again.
