A MOTORIST in north Dorset was handed a £300 fine and six points on his licence for driving without insurance earlier today.
Dorset Police originally stopped the white Audi after finding out that no insurance details were held for the vehicle.
It soon emerged that the most recent policy on the car had been terminated in December.
A spokesperson for Dorset Police said: “Vehicle stopped earlier today for showing as having no insurance details held.
“Phone call to the Motor Insurance Bureau confirmed that the policy was cancelled in December for non-payment.
“The driver has been issued with a fixed penalty ticket and the car has been seized to prevent further offences.”
A fixed penalty ticket means the driver received a £300 fine and six points on their licence.
