PERMISSION has been refused for three homes off Sussex Road, Weymouth.
Dorset Council has turned down an application for the site, to the rear of No 33, which would have also involved the demolition of garages.
Some neighbours had objected to the planning application claiming the development would block the sun to their properties, that three homes would add to the flood risk and claimed the development would add to parking problems in the street and neighbouring Kitchener Road and Queensland Road.
A Dorset Council planning officer report said the three single storey double garages which would have been demolished and replaced by a terrace of small three one and a half-storey homes each with a single bedroom on the first floor. The report concluded that these would appear cramped and give the occupiers inadequate outdoor space.
The report also concluded that the proposed homes would adversely impact on the immediate neighbours.
