EMERGENCY services were called to extinguish a vehicle fire yesterday afternoon.
Firefighters and police were called to a report of a car which had been engulfed in flames at 4.50pm yesterday on the A35 near Stinsford Roundabout.
Two apparatus wearers tackled the blaze and extinguished the fire using hose reel jets.
A spokesman for Dorset & Wiltshire fire Service said: "A crew from Dorchester were called to an incident near Stinsford Roundabout, Stinsford at 4.50pm yesterday afternoon, involving a vehicle fire. On arrival, the crew found one vehicle well alight which was extinguished by two breathing apparatus wearers using hose reel jets.
"Unfortunately, the car was completely destroyed. Police also attended to control traffic as this was on a main carriageway. Our stop came at 5.35pm."
A spokesman for Dorset Police said: "Dorset Police received a report at 4.56pm on Wednesday 22 December 2021 from the fire service of a vehicle fire on the A35 near to the public toilets at Stinsford near Dorchester. Officers attended to assist the fire service with traffic management."
