WEYMOUTH'S famed New Year's Eve celebrations have been dealt a blow as one of the town's highlight events has been cancelled.
Quayside Music Festival outside the Rendezvous on Weymouth Harbour has been called off after organisers took a "difficult decision" to pull the plug on the live music event.
The £5 per head ticketed event would have seen revellers in fancy dress gather in a marquee from 7pm until 4am in a 'huge' marquee on the harbourside.
Bands on the lineup included The Undecided, The Leggomen and Chief Lazurus.
But last night organisers took to social media to announce that the event will no longer go ahead.
A spokesman said: "We’ve made a very difficult decision and with a very heavy heart we’ve had to cancel this NYE Quayside Music Festival.
"We know many of you will be disappointed, as are we. We’re sure you can appreciate the reasons why this decision has been taken, but don’t worry, 2022 we will be back bigger and better than ever before."
