A WOMAN from Portland was arrested on suspicion of kicking a police officer near Weymouth town centre.
Police were called to King Street on Saturday evening after reports of a woman in her late 30s refusing to leave the Duke of Albany pub in Park Street.
It was reported the woman left the pub and allegedly assaulted another woman in King Street.
As police arrived, the woman then allegedly kicked an officer - leading to her being arrested on suspicion of drunk and disorderly and on suspicion of assaulting an emergency services worker.
A spokeswoman from Dorset Police said: "We received a report at around 5.15pm on Saturday, December 11 of a woman refusing to leave the Duke of Albany pub on Park Street in Weymouth.
"It was further reported that the woman assaulted a female member of the public nearby on King Street.
"Officers attended and a 39-year-old woman from Portland was arrested on suspicion of assault and being drunk and disorderly in a public place.
"During the incident, it is alleged that an officer was kicked to the leg and the woman was further arrested on suspicion of assaulting an emergency services worker.
"She has been released under investigation while enquiries continue."
