A THREE year-old girl has been taken to hospital with serious facial injuries as a result of a crash in north Dorset.

Police are now appealing for witnesses or anyone with dashcam footage to come forward following a serious injury collision.

Dorset Police received a report at 12.37pm on Thursday, December 9, of a collision involving a black Ford S-Max and a silver Subaru on the A357 between Stalbridge and Henstridge.

The driver of the Ford, a woman aged in her 30s from Wincanton in Somerset, sustained minor injuries. Her passenger, a three-year-old girl, has been taken to Dorset County Hospital by the ambulance service for treatment to serious facial injuries. 

The male driver of the Subaru, aged in his 80s and from the North Dorset area, has been taken to hospital for treatment. His condition is described as critical.

The road was closed to allow emergency services to safely respond to the incident and treat the injured people. It reopened at around 6.15pm.

Police Sergeant Rhys Griffiths, of the traffic unit, said: “I am appealing to anyone who witnessed the collision or the manner of driving of either vehicle prior to it and has not already spoken to police to please come forward.

“I am particularly keen to hear from anyone who may have relevant dashcam footage to assist my enquiries.

“Finally, I would like to thank the public for their patience while the road closures were in place. These were absolutely necessary to allow for an examination of the scene to be carried out.”
