FIREFIGHTERS were called to a historic pub in Weymouth after roof tiles blew off in heavy winds.
The Belvedere Pub, in High West Street, was forced to temporarily close after part of the roof came loose during Storm Arwen.
An Aerial Ladder Platform from Weymouth Fire Station attended the scene at around 4pm on Saturday to remove any other loose tiles from the roof. A section of the road was temporarily shut off to the public while crews carried out the work.
The pub explained the situation on social media with a post that read: “IMPORTANT. Due to high winds removing the front of the building’s roof last night, along with more, we are closed.
“This is for public safety until the roof can be made secure. No one wants a 2’ slate landing on their heads.
“The amazing fire service is currently removing all loose tiles for safety to make it safe.
"It is one way to blow the roof off!”
The pub reopened to customers at midday today (Sunday, November 28).
