A UTILITY company has revealed a date of when the next phase of roadworks will be happening on a busy road in Weymouth.

As reported, a section of Newstead Road has been shut since November 4 after Wessex Water said a water pipe needed replacing in the area.

The closure has meant drivers are not able to use the route to get from the Abbotsbury Road junction down towards Asda and the harbour.

Temporary traffic lights will be in place for around six weeks but there will the utility company confirmed there will be no further closure.

A Wessex Water spokesperson said: “We’re replacing water mains that are prone to leaks and bursts, meaning improved water quality and a more reliable supply.

“Newstead Road will be closed to through traffic but access will remain for residents and emergency work. We’re sorry for any inconvenience.”
