A MAN who broke lockdown rules by travelling to west Dorset from a Tier 4 area earlier this year has been handed a £1,100 fine in court.
Martin William Dyer, aged 28, of Charles Street, Taunton, was prosecuted for leaving or being outside his place of living without reasonable excuse, and other than as permitted by coronavirus regulations, having travelled to Lyme Regis on January 13, 2021.
The case was heard at Weymouth Magistrates Court on October 18 and the case against him was proved via the single justice procedure. Dyer, who did not attend, was fined £1,100, with a victim surcharge of £110 and costs of £85 also imposed.
