A HUGE crane has been set up at Weymouth Harbour – with workers preparing to lift a sunken vessel out of the water.
The heavy-duty equipment is in place behind Weymouth Pavilion today (Wednesday, November 10), set up by Ainscough Crane Hire.
The boat, believed to be a sunken fishing vessel, will be lifted out of the water tomorrow, according the crane hire company.
But some mystery surrounds the operation – with the Harbour Master, Dorset Council and Weymouth Town Council unable to provide further details.
A spokesman for Ainscough confirmed that a crew has been setting up the equipment over the past two days and will take a further two days to disassemble the machinery after the lift has been completed.
Pictures show five Ainscough HGVs at the harbourside amongst a flurry of activity in the area.
