A MACHINING manufacturer has become the very latest company in Dorset to back this year’s Christmas Toy Appeal - with a generous donation.
IML, based on the Granby Industrial Estate in Weymouth, has given £300 to the Dorset Echo’s Christmas Toy Appeal 2021.
All of the funds from their donation will go towards buying presents for children that live in the area who would not have anything to unwrap on Christmas Day otherwise.
IML director, Jerry Way, said: “A large proportion of our staff have young families, so this appeal is very relevant to IML UK Limited, and we wholeheartedly support your efforts, especially now, when things have been so depressing for the last couple of years.
“Each year, instead of sending gifts and cards to our customers, we send them your editorial piece, with a letter explaining what we are doing and why.
“They too are proud to support the Dorset Echo Toy Appeal.”
IML specialise in precision machined components and electro-mechanical assembly and have supported the Christmas Toy Appeal for several years now.
Despite the pandemic last year the Dorset Echo raised its highest ever amount of £5,432.
Debbie Hellaby Newsquest Group Promotions Manager said: “Sourcing, collecting and organising the toys for hundreds of children is not an easy task, the toys are usually matched to the age and interest of each child individually.”
Last year the toy collections bins were not put out but for 2021 Weymouth Rotary Club will be helping with the collation of the gifts by Dorset residents.
Ms Hellaby added: “We are delighted to accept the support of the Weymouth Rotary Club to facilitate the collection and collation of toys.”
Any businesses wishing to make a £100 donation to the 2021 Dorset Echo toy appeal should contact maureen.jolliffe@localiq.co.uk or call 01305 830811.
Toys can be dropped off in Weymouth at Asda, Howleys, Morrisons, Tesco (in the town centre), WH Smith and Wilkinsons.
While in Dorchester the drop-off points are at Tesco, Toymaster, WH Smith and Boo’s Toyshop, Poundbury.
In Portland at the Co-Op - Easton and Tesco - Easton, while in Bridport the bins are located at Morrisons and Toymaster.
