A COMMUNITY champion has been honoured for his dedicated work with young people on Portland.
At a recent meeting of the Rotary Club of Portland, Jonathan Powney was awarded the Community Award for 2021.
Mr Powney was given the accolade for his volunteering work as leader for 1st Portland Portland Scouts.

Spokesman from the Rotary Club, Andrew Harvey, said: "Jonathan regularly goes above and beyond for the children and young people of Portland, using his own time, annual leave, money, boundless energy, and enthusiasm.
"He runs parties, takes children away camping or even abroad, fund raises, fixes the scout building - plus many more activities to help and further the club activities.
"He's a truly generous, fun and a much-loved individual - a true community legend."

Mr Powney was presented with his community award certificate and a cheque for £150 for his club by club president Celia Canter and rotary member Mr Harvey.
