TWO Weymouth parks are in the running to win a people's choice award - and residents are being encouraged to show their support.
Greenhill Gardens and Sandsfoot Gardens both have the chance to win Green Flag People's Choice Awards, which give people the opportunity to show how much their favourite park means to them.
It comes after both Weymouth gardens were awarded green flag status after being judged by several experienced assessors in what was a record-breaking year as 2,127 parks and green spaces were given awards. The face of the Jubilee Clock was lit up green to celebrate the awards, which are the international quality mark for parks and green spaces.
Now, staff at the Weymouth gardens are hoping to nab a People's Choice Award to add to the collection.
A spokesman for Weymouth Town Council said: "We take incredible pride in our parks and gardens and it's testament to the hard work of our staff and volunteers that Sandsfoot and Greenhill were once again awarded the Green Flag Award this year.
"The Green Flag's People's Choice Award is the public's chance to show how much their favourite park or garden means to them.
"It would be fantastic if the public could vote for our two nominated gardens, Sandsfoot and Greenhill, to show their appreciation and help to gain further national recognition for the gardens."
Paul Todd, international Green Flag Award manager, said: "Over the past 18 months, probably more than ever, we have all come to understand the importance of our precious parks and green spaces and to value those that have been a lifeline for us in difficult times.
"The People's Choice Award is your chance to show how much your favourite park means to you. Make your voice heard and vote now."
Voting is now open and closes on November 14, with the top ten winning sites announced at a virtual awards ceremony on November 23.
