A RESTAURANT which only opened its doors a year ago is already receiving critical acclaim, earning a place in the prestigious Michelin Guide.
Robin Wylde in Lyme Regis is one of 12 new additions to the list this month, which prides itself on 'truly representing the great variety and choice available to those who love eating out'.
The Silver Street restaurant is the brainchild of TV chef, Harriet Mansell, who appeared on BBC’s Great British Menu and has worked around the world in renowned restaurants and Michelin Star kitchens.
The Michelin Guide is made up of restaurants that come highly recommended by inspectors, who also dish out Michelin stars and Michelin Bib Gourmands once a year.
Since opening up in October 2020, the restaurant has endured two national lockdowns along with the complications of coronavirus restrictions.
Miss Mansell said: "I can't really believe it, I think it is really quite an achievement.
"We opened the doors one year ago almost to the day so not long ago at all really. We were pretty surprised when we found out but really pleased, it's exciting!
"Even though we officially been open for a year, if you factor in the lockdowns we've only really been able to open for about six months so this does feel like a real achievement."
She added: "It's been such a busy year and its really nice for all of the hard work to be acknowledged."
Miss Mansell had initially operated a pop-up kitchen in the area to test demand from local customers before opening the restaurant.
She also opened a wine bar, nearby on Broad Street, called Lilac in July.
The Michelin Guide describes Robin Wylde's menu as 'a roll call of local produce'.
It continues: "Dishes are intricate and original with great visual appeal, and there’s a selection of local and natural wines too. The interior is elegant and understated, and service, enthusiastic and warm."
12 restaurants per month have been announced for the 2022 Michelin Guide, which will be unveiled at the annual launch event next year. Michelin stars, Bib Gourmands and Green Stars for 2022 will be announced at the event.
