A MUM-of-two is hoping to lift the spirits of children after transforming her front garden into a spooky Halloween display.
Debbie O'Conner is now inviting sweets-seeking passers-by to her makeshift attraction - if they dare - in a bid to bring families together after what she described as 'not the best few years'.
Ms O'Conner, 33, said she has made everything by hand and utilised fences to her advantage, which currently sits around her and her neighbour's homes due to the estate still being newly built.
She said: "My motives behind my Halloween project is to bring all the local children together to celebrate a good Halloween as it hasn’t been the best few years due to the Covid pandemic.
"I’m not sure how much it has cost me in total.
"I have made almost everything myself by hand with a bit of help from my neighbour next door.
"The fences are around mine and my neighbour's house. The fence actually give a bit more a spooky Halloween feel and effect to my project too."
The display, in Brickyard Close, Swanage, stretches across Ms O'Conner's property and her neighbour's. On entry, the project features 'cobwebs' over the fence, pallets with spooky dolls place upright next to the front doors, makeshift burial sites featuring skeletons, and a black bag hanging from her front window, which seemingly looks like it contains remains.
Ms O'Conner added: "I want children to have fun, but in a safe place. That is why I'm getting everything in place so children don’t try to investigate and hurt themselves on anything that I have out, or around at the moment when it is Halloween night.
"I know that my children and other children who come to visit my home will be safe and kept off the road. So no motorists should be worried in case a child decides to go on the road."
