FILMING is in progress at the Dorchester Prison site as a film crew has arrived in the town.

Crew members have been using a crane and hydraulic platform - with cast members using a room above the town's Corn Exchange, in High East Street, as a 'green room' - also referred to as a dressing area.

During the weekend, security staff were patrolling the grounds next to the prison, just off Friary Hill.

A trailer is stationed within the prison entrance belonging to Location One - a firm working in the TV, film and events industry.

However the organisers have so far remained tight-lipped - refusing to disclose the reason for filming.

It comes after national agency Casting Collective put a call out for male extras for a major film set in Dorchester which is due to start filming this month.

Location One was contacted for comment, but a spokeswoman said the company 'do not want to reveal any information at this time'.

Dorchester Town Council councillor Alistair Chisholm said: "It looks as though there's filming going on at the prison and there's a lot of talk about it.

"There's a room above the Corn Exchange which is being used as a green room.

"But that's all I know. It truly is a mystery."
