DORCHESTER Town interim manager Brian Churchill believes the Magpies’ squad has stepped up in the absence of a permanent boss.
Churchill and joint caretaker Craig Robinson have guided the Magpies to two wins in their four games in charge since Robbie Herrera lost his job as manager.
With the duo set to take training yesterday night and still no manager in place, the pair could come up against their second table-topping side in Farnborough at the Avenue Stadium tomorrow (3pm).
Boro have risen above Hayes & Yeading to the Pitching In Southern League Premier South summit after seven straight wins.
That compares favourably to Dorchester’s placing of 17th, a gain of two places following the 3-2 win over Hartley Wintney on Tuesday.
Churchill said: “Everyone’s waiting for the manager to come in.
“I said to the players (Tuesday) that there’s a good chance the new manager’s here watching. You’re playing for your place in the team.

“They all stepped up, they showed what Dorchester can be. They can be a winning team, it’s just instilling that into them.
“They’ve done everything we’ve asked and got a result after a difficult day on Saturday.”
On Farnborough, Churchill added: “It’s going to be similar to Hayes & Yeading, Farnborough took top spot at the weekend.
“Once again we’re at home to the league leaders. I think they’ve lost two all season. It’s going to be our toughest test.
“But we’re at home, let’s see what we can do.”
Skipper Ash Wells will miss out after lasting only eight minutes of Tuesday’s win, suffering a recurrence of a hamstring injury. He is expected to be out for four to six weeks.
Sam Davidson (ankle) and Tom Soares (hamstring) will be assessed.
The Magpies have completed the interview process and are now mulling over their options for the vacant manager’s position.
Should a new boss not be appointed before the weekend, the Magpies will have seven days before an FA Trophy clash with AFC Totton.
Dorchester are also in talks to add two new players to the squad.
