DRUGS and illegal weapons have been seized from a property in Weymouth following a tip-off from residents about suspected dealing.
A 17 year-old local man was arrested during the police raid yesterday afternoon, after suspected class A and B drugs were found. A samurai sword and a knuckle duster were also found at the property. Police say concerns had been raised that drugs were being sold to young people.
A second man is also helping police with enquiries.
A police spokesman said: "Officers from the Neighbourhood Policing Team and Professional Development Unit conducted a warrant at a residential property in Weymouth.
"The warrant was obtained through the court as a result of community intelligence regarding the suspected supply of drugs, particularly to younger people in the local area."
The spokesman added: "A 17 year-old local male was arrested at the property after a quantity of suspected class A and B drugs were located at the address.
"He was further arrested after a number of offensive weapons were also recovered, including a samurai sword and knuckle duster.
"These items are amongst many weapons which are now illegal to possess, even in a private place. This is as a result of new legislation under the Offensive Weapons Act, which came into force earlier this year."
A second person at the property was also found in possession of a quantity of suspected drugs and is assisting officers.
The 17 year-old male remains in custody and enquires continue.
