A BONFIRE and fireworks evening will be held next month in Weymouth - and traders are now being invited to apply to run a stand at the event.
Weymouth Town Council is bringing a night of free entertainment to residents to celebrate Guy Fawkes night with a bonfire, fairground and fireworks on Friday, November 5.
The seafront is expected to experience high footfall on the evening, and traders are encourage to take advantage of the busy night by setting up stalls on the promenade to cash in on passing trade.
The event is scheduled to begin at 4pm with the opening of a fairground on the forecourt of Weymouth Pavilion, followed by a children's Guy Fawkes competition in the foyer of the theatre at 6.30pm. Visitors will then be entertained by a beach bonfire which will be lit at 7.40pm near to the sand modeller's unit, and then a fireworks display will begin at 8pm, with fireworks ignited from a vessel in Weymouth Bay.
Stall holders can set up from 5pm and will be required to supply their own silent running generators. The council is encouraging traders not to offer single use plastic and said that stall holders must dispose of their own waste. All traders must clear the promenade by 9.30pm.
A spokesman for Weymouth Town Council said: "We invite applications from both food and non-food traders for the evening. Please submit by email details of your business, a photograph of your stall/stand, and your preferred choice of location.
"Stall holders must provide a copy of their public liability insurance when submitting their application. Food stall holders must also be registered with Environmental Health and hold a four or five start food hygiene rating."
"Following a review of all applications, confirmation to trade will be sent together with details of your allocated pitch.
