A WOMAN was left with a puncture wound on her leg after a large dog bit her in Swanage.

Officers investigating the incident are appealing for anyone with information to come forward.

The incident occurred at around 10.30am on Tuesday, October 5 on the Priest’s Way track near to Belle Vue Farm. A woman aged in her 30s was walking two Jack Russell dogs, heading in the direction of Langton Matravers, when a large dog approached off the lead.

The large dog began attacking her dogs and as she tried to intervene it bit her on the calf, causing a puncture wound.

A woman came running toward them and the victim thought she was putting a muzzle on the dog. The victim told her what had happened, but the woman left without giving any of her details.

The woman is described as white, of medium build, aged in her 40s and around five feet four inches tall with blonde shoulder-length hair in a pony tail. She was wearing jeans and a thin woollen multi-coloured jumper. She also wore glasses.

The dog is described as possibly a cross between a German Shepherd and a Husky, with short fur and brown and black in colour.

Police Constable Jennie Sykes-Martin, of Dorset Police, said: “We are carrying out enquiries into this incident and are keen to identify the owner of the dog involved so we can take her account.

“I would urge anyone with information as to her identity to please come forward.”
