A NEW play focusing on a famed Lyme Regis fossil hunter is set to come to town next month.
'Mary Anning: Lost In Time', a new play from the AsOne Theatre Company, will be performed at the Marine Theatre on Wednesday, October 6.
Pioneering palaeontologist Mary Anning, a fossil hunter and amateur scientist noted for her discoveries of many important dinosaurs, was based in Lyme Regis and did much of her work on the town's beaches.
Based in 1846, the small town of Lyme Regis is battered by howling winter-gales. Dying and increasingly dependent on laudanum, fossil hunter, Anning reflects on her life. By challenging the status quo whilst making remarkable strides in a male dominated scientific world, her work threatens to disprove the very foundations she was raised on.
Doors open at 6.30pm and the show begins at 7.30pm, early bird tickets are available for £13, whilst tickets will be available on the door for £17.
