TRIBUTES have been paid to an 'extremely talented' motocross rider from Dorset who died following a crash.
Jude Morris, aged 17 and from Corfe Castle, competed at the British Motocross Championship at Duns in Scotland on Saturday (August 28).
Jude who was second in the race was injured in an incident.
No other riders were involved and medics were on the scene as quickly as possible to give assistance to Jude.
Despite the efforts of medics, he died from his injuries.
RHL, who holds the rights to run the Revo ACU British Motocross Championship, cancelled the remaining racing at Duns after his death.
A spokesman for RHL said: “RHL Activities are saddened to confirm the passing of Jude Morris following an incident at Duns.
“This is a devastating time for everyone and our thoughts are with the family at this time.
“After seeing Mark and Lucy this morning they have asked us to pass on their thanks for all the kind words of support during this sad time and for all those who assisted yesterday at Duns.”
Race Director and Chairman of the ACU Motocross Committee, Steve McCauley, paid tribute to Jude and described him as an 'extremely talented young lad'.
He said: “An incredibly sad day for everyone. Jude was always smiling and lived for competing in Motocross.
"An extremely talented young lad, he was one of the most dedicated and hard-working young riders I have ever had the pleasure to meet.
"At this very sad time our thoughts are with Jude’s parents Mark and Lucy and their family”.
Jude, who had won at MXN’s Cusses Gorse the week prior, was in a closely-fought title contest with Alfie Jones for British Open honours.
He had already won six motos and two overalls before the Duns round.
