A NEW burger joint which aims to offer ‘mouth-watering’ food has opened in Weymouth.
Proper Naughty Burger Co opened its doors for the first time yesterday (Monday, August 23) inside the former Marria’s café and coffee shop in King Street.
Owned by Max Bray and Sam Burroughs, they aim to offer 'American fast-food' to to Weymouth locals and tourists.
The menu offers a blend of beef burgers, chicken burgers, vegan burgers, loaded fries and nachos as well as multiple sides including fries, chicken wings and halloumi fries.
A 'number of jobs' have been created at the new restaurant, including chefs and store assistants, with more roles are likely to be created when it starts offering deliveries.
Max Bray, who has experience working in the catering industry, said Proper Naughty Burger Co became popular during the first national lockdown as he delivered to customers in the Weymouth area and has steadily expanded over the past year.
Leon Williams, its kitchen manager and head chef, say the food will ‘enlighten peoples’ taste buds’ and ‘offer the town something it doesn’t have.’
He said: “It’s American style food and it’s going to leave peoples’ mouths watering.
“There’s nothing like this in Weymouth and hopefully it will be a success.
“All our food is homemade, we make our own burgers, coleslaws, BBQ pulled pork so everything is made in house.
“We’re going to offer tasty fresh food.”

The owners have taken over the King Street unit, which has been derelict for several months, and installed new branded signage and hoarding on the store front, with seating available with two benches in front of the takeaway and some seats inside.
Despite being in close proximity to Dorset Burger Company, the town’s popular burger restaurant, Mr Bray feels that his restaurant offers something different to Weymouth and believes it will be a hit.
It is open daily from 12pm until 9pm except Friday and Saturday when it is open until 10pm.
Mr Bray said: “We feel where we are is in a good place – we have the Swannery car park down the road, with floods of people coming up and down to the beach all day.
“There’s the train station across us with further plans to regenerate the area and hopefully that plays into our hands.
“We are really happy with where we have come from so far and everything that’s been done has been done by us.”
Mr Williams added that the Weymouth store could be the beginning of the business’ expansion – with further branches planned for Bridport, Dorchester and other towns across the county.
“We want to make it big and open in other areas”, he said.
“We want to get this brand around Dorset and our standing point will be here in Weymouth.
“We just want people to come here and try us out.”
