MORE than 50 Weymouth food venues have been recognised with coveted 'Travellers Choice' status on TripAdvisor after receiving glowing reviews from diners.
A total of 53 restaurants, cafés and takeaways in and around the town have been recognised as being among the top 10 per cent of listings on consumer website TripAdvisor, which ranks businesses according to customer reviews.
The TripAdvisor Travellers' Choice awards, now in its second year, recognises businesses that earn consistently great feedback and demonstrate a commitment to hospitality excellence.
Winners are chosen according to visitor opinions and popularity over the last 12 months. To be eligible for an award, a property, business, destination or point of interest must have been listed on Tripadvisor for at least 12 months, must receive a threshold number of reviews within the evaluation period of that award, and must maintain or exceed a minimum bubble rating on Tripadvisor.

Congratulating the winners, Kanika Soni, chief commercial officer at Tripadvisor, said: "We know the past year has been extremely challenging for hospitality businesses.
"What has been so impressive is how businesses adapted to these challenges, implementing new cleanliness measures, adding social distancing guidelines, and utilising technology to prioritise guest safety.
"The Travellers’ Choice Awards highlights the places that are consistently excellent - delivering quality experiences time and time again even while navigating changing customer expectations and new ways of working. Based on a full year of reviews from customers, this award speaks to the great service and experience these businesses provided guests in the midst of a pandemic.”
Meanwhile, congratulations have also been extended on behalf of WeymouthHighStreet.co.uk - a new local website that aims to serve as a digital marketplace to support businesses.
Barry Whettingsteel, one of its founders, said: "WeymouthHighStreet.co.uk would like to congratulate every business in Weymouth that has been awarded the Travellers Choice Award after what has been a very difficult and sometimes upsetting year due to the ongoing pandemic.
"With many businesses having been forced to close their doors, it is wonderful to see such a huge range of new and existing businesses that are absolutely thriving. Well done and we can’t wait to visit each one of you very soon."
