DORSET rider Brad Jones will have 'further scans' on a head injury sustained from a serious British Superbikes crash.

Jones, 23, was thrown off his bike at high speed on the exit of Clark Curve at the famous Brands Hatch circuit two weeks ago.

The Stalbridge man collided with a barrier and was unconscious at the scene before being evacuated to King's College Hospital, London.

Jones has undergone surgery for a pelvic fracture, while his chest injury is also "settling".

However, his head injury remains of concern to doctors, who are keen to wake him from sedation.

"He remains under the care of the medical team at King's College Hospital, London," a MotorSport Vision Racing statement said.

"He recently underwent a successful operation on his pelvis and his chest and pelvic injuries are settling.  

"Brad's neurological condition remains the primary focus.

"He remains under sedation, which is being gradually reduced, and awaits further scans.

"Once these investigations are completed, it is planned to stop sedation and allow him to wake.

"Further updates will continue to be provided."

A fundraiser to help Jones' recovery and assist his family with costs incurred while at his bedside in London has so far raised more than £23,500.
