Dramatic photos show firefighters tackle a vehicle and field fire in rural Dorset.
Fire crews from Dorchester, Weymouth Fire Station, Bere Regis Fire Station and a water carrier from Yeovil Fire Station have been called to a field in Forston near Charlton Down today (Thursday, July 29).
Photos from the scene show black smoke billowing into the air as firefighters water down the blaze.
The field has also suffered fire damage as firefighters water down the area to stop the fire from spreading.
A spokesman for Dorset and Wiltshire Fire and Rescue Service said: "Crews from Dorchester, Weymouth, Bere Regis and the water carrier from Yeovil were called to a large vehicle fire in a field in Forston at 2.28pm this afternoon.
"On arrival, firefighters found an articulated lorry heavily involved in fire as well as approximately 300 square metres of cut crop.
"Both were extinguished using hose reel jets, a main line, beaters and farm machinery."
The blaze comes as an amber wildfire alert has been issued for the county by Dorset and Wiltshire Fire and Rescue Service due to exceptionally hot weather.
An amber alert means that, should a wildfire be experienced, it could spread quickly and easily due to the dry conditions.
The risk is greatest on large areas of open land, such as heathlands, fields and even cliffsides.
