A WEYMOUTH man has denied that his dog was out of control and bit a nine-year-old girl - who had to receive hospital treatment for her injuries, a court heard.
William Lee Barker, aged 28, of Greenhill, pleaded not guilty to owning a dog dangerously out of control causing injury.
Weymouth Magistrates Court heard how on June 21 last year in the Piddlehinton area, Barker's Doberman allegedly ran towards a family and bit a nine-year-old girl.
The court heard how the dog was not wearing a muzzle during the alleged act.
Prosecutor Siobhan Oxley said: "The nine-year-old girl sustained injuries to her upper body and leg and had to be taken to Dorset County Hospital."
Barker will next appear at Bournemouth Crown Court on August 23.
