DORCHESTER Town boss Robbie Herrera is “looking for more” despite a 4-1 friendly win over Buckland Athletic.
Dorchester remain unbeaten this summer having scored 10 goals in three games this pre-season, backing up a 1-1 draw with Hamworthy and a 5-0 result against Christchurch.
On this occasion, Sam Bayston continued his good form with a brace either side of Christos Papakonstantinou’s strike and a late Harry Burns goal.
But with Buckland playing two divisions beneath the Magpies, and a Nathan Cooper stunner giving the Bucks a 14th-minute lead, Herrera is mindful of making improvements.
Post-match, he said: “It was a tough game. I know quite a few of their lads that have been in academies back round my way in Devon.
“They’ve been at Exeter, Torquay, Plymouth Argyle, so they’re good players in their own right and they wanted to show that they should be playing at this level.

“Like I’ve said previously, I’m always looking for more. Some of the movements, tempo and speed of the ball weren’t quite what I’d want.
“Again, we’ll work on that in the next couple of weeks. Once we got the second goal we took control and it became a bit more comfortable.”
Herrera rated his side’s attacking play but feels decision-making is a key area to work on.
“We’ve created chances, so going forward – great,” he said.
“I thought we could’ve done better on their goal, even though it was a fantastic strike.
“We could’ve closed the space down a little quicker and not allowed him to get that strike in.
“Some of the attacking play was good, the build-up play, but still lots to work on.
“Just the tempo of passing. We paint pictures for them in training and when they’re on the pitch they’ve got to decide which is the best ball.
“We’re trying to free players up to receive it they’ve got to pick the pass. At times, that was wayward or we were making the wrong decisions on the ball.
“That needs to improve and is obviously down to the players and what they see.
“We’ll continue to work on the movements and passing so that everyone understands where they should be and need to be, and how they can get themselves on the ball and how they can make themselves available.”
