STYLE of play and fitness will again be the main areas of focus for Dorchester Town in their pre-season friendly with Christchurch today (3pm).
Robbie Herrera’s Magpies welcome the Priory to the Avenue Stadium for their second summer warm-up game, following last week’s 1-1 draw with Hamworthy.
While Herrera was pleased with the first 45 minutes against the Hammers, he wants to see an improved display this afternoon.
Speaking to Echosport, he said: “We’re looking for them to get more minutes under the belt and obviously I want to win the game.
“We’re working on a style of play and they carried it out really well for the first 35 minutes of last week’s game.
“Then we faded a little bit and were a little shellshocked by the goal, but it’ll be in the same vein – getting the fitness and trying to improve on the movement and tempo of our play.

“Hopefully I’ll have a couple of extra bodies that will allow us to make changes a bit earlier.
“We can give bodies a minimum of 45, 60 minutes and that will be a great base to build from.
“There will be one or two that might have to play the full 90 like they did last week but I’ll try and rotate.
“Obviously, the weather’s going to play a part as well, it’s going to be red hot again. I’ll have to be careful on how many minutes I allocate for individuals.”
New signing Christos Papakonstantinou is likely to be involved, while Herrera also revealed a number of the club’s under-23 and under-18 players could get playing time.
He said: “There’ll be a few of the 23s and the majority of them are under 18 anyway.
“Last time we finished the game with six under-18s on the pitch, which is great for the club moving forward.
“It shows there’s a pathway there and it’s not ‘them and us’.
“It’s difficult to chuck all them boys in as one, they’ve not got the experience of playing at that level, and two, not that it depletes the strength of the squad, but it takes a little bit away.”
