A MAN has appeared in court in connection with an incident in Weymouth when two police officers were allegedly assaulted as they tried to detain a person for suspected drug offences.
Police said Elijah La-Croix, 25 and of Weymouth, allegedly assaulted two police officers while being detained for suspected drug offences.
La-Croix has been charged on suspicion of obstructing a police constable in the execution of their duty, possession of a controlled drug of class B and possession with intent to supply a controlled drug of class A.

At around 6.30pm on Wednesday 7 July 2021 officers responded to a report of a suspected drug deal taking place on Rodwell Road and a man was subsequently detained for a search in Garibaldi Row.
The man reportedly became violent and was involved in a struggle with the two officers who were attempting to detain him. One officer sustained cuts to his arm and leg and another suffered a head injury and was taken to hospital as a precaution.
Two packages containing a number of wraps of suspected class A drugs were reportedly located at the scene of the struggle.
He appeared at Poole Magistrates’ Court today. He will next appear at Bournemouth Crown Court on August 9.
