PUBLIC toilets in Weymouth will remain open later from the end of this month.
Weymouth's public toilets will be open for an additional hour in the evenings from the end of the month and through August to meet the increased demand for the service.
At a services committee meeting of Weymouth Town Council on Wednesday evening, operations manager for Tony Hurley discussed the plans, which do not include the toilets on Maiden Street and Cove Street as they are already open until 11pm.
A spokesman for Weymouth Town Council said: "The service has seen increased demand as a result of growing visitor numbers and longer seasonal opening hours. The toilets at Maiden Street and Cove Street are currently kept open until 11.00pm each evening - when all other toilets are open until 9.00pm and then 10.00pm in late July and August - and special arrangements for this later locking-up time has been put in place through the use of Real World Security and with funding support from Dorset Council.
